Thanks to your indispensable support, Lift a Village has enhanced educational opportunities for over 940 children from kindergarten through twelfth grade in eight Sierra Leonean underserved communities in 2016. Your investment comes at a critical time – With the national literacy rate at 43.3 % and more than one third of school aged children being out of school due to lack of access to education, Sierra Leone ranked number 11 on the list of countries with the lowest literacy rate in the world. With an estimated gross national income(GNI) of$340 per capita that   translates to over 72 percent of the population living in extreme poverty at less than $1 per day, the dark side of our high poverty rates and access to education are deeply affecting the children and families we serve.
